Inviting and Accepting New Suppliers

Once you have recruited a seller, there are two ways to invite them to join your market. The quickest way to invite them is by sending out an email with the link to your Local Orbit powered marketplace and ask them to follow the steps to "Request an Account".


Invitation 1


1. Invite your new seller to your Local Orbit powered marketplace by sending them a link to your direct URL (i.e. marketname.localorb.it) and ask them to request an account. Your Local Orbit Community Manager will have emailed you a copy of the URL. If you have misplaced it, simply email service@localorb.it and ask for it again. Once your new seller has clicked on your link, advise them to Request an Account.




2. They must complete the registration form as seen below, making sure to select I want to sell and buy food.




3. Once they click "Sign me up" two things will happen:

  •  You will get a notification of a new user, prompting you to activate the user by clicking on a link.
  •  Your seller will receive an email notification, asking them to verify their email address. This is to ensure this user is indeed a real person.


4. If you follow the link, you will be brought to the screen below. Activate your new user. Doing so will give them permission to start listing products in your store. Please note that a new seller can populate their profile and upload products without your approval, but the products will not appear in your store, and their listing will not appear in your seller list, until they are activated. Do not activate a seller that you do not know.

Definitions:

  • Activate: Approve a new seller and enable them to list a profile and products.
  • Deactivate: Temporarily remove the profile and product listings (these can be reactivated).
  • Suspend: Prevent a seller from having any access to the site at all.
  • Delete: Permanently remove the seller from you site.

 




5. Give your seller a few days to get their profile complete. Make sure to inform them of the many useful tutorials available to them.

6. We also recommend periodically contacting your sellers using the newsletter function found in your marketing tools. You can send them links to tutorials and updates on your store.

7. Check up on their progress by verifying your seller information.

Here is a sample email to send out when asking your sellers to join your new market:

Dear (insert name),

Thank you for your interest in selling your products through (insert your market’s name) online marketplace, powered by Local Orbit.

To create your account:

1. Please visit our website at (insert your Market’s URL)
2. Click on "Create an account" - located on the left side of the page under the “Log In” button.
3. Fill out the information in the required fields.
4. As soon as you register, I will receive a notification and will activate your account.

Please note: after you click "sign me up", you will receive an email asking you to verify your account by clicking on the link. You must do so before you will have access to create your profile or upload products.

5. Once you log in, take some time to explore the site to get familiar with (insert you Market’s name) online Market.  It is helpful to read these brief tutorials on how to use this website. (You must first be logged into the  (insert your market’s name) site to view the tutorials.)

Invitation 2

There is another way to invite new sellers to your market.

1. Click on Organizations under Market Administration in your Dashboard. Select + New Organization.




2. Fill out the information for your new seller, including their business name, address and phone. Make sure to select the box that says Allowed to sell products.

3. Once you click Save, you can now invite the business owner to register as a new user. To do this, click on Users under Market Administration, then select Add new user.

4. Fill out the information for the new seller. Make sure to create a standard password that they can change once they log in. In the dropdown, choose the Organization you just created. Enter the information, and Save.

5. Finally, email a note to your new seller with a link to your URL, their email address you used for their registration and their password. Make sure to mention how they can change their password.

Troubleshooting:

If you have a user that has lost their invitation you have the ability to resend an invite to them. 

Go to the user's Organization and click into the "Users" tab and click "Re-Invite".

Here is a sample email:

Dear (insert Seller’s name),

Thank you for your interest in selling your products through (insert your Market’s name) online marketplace, powered by Local Orbit. I've registered your organization and have signed you up as a new user.

To log-in to our site, please use these credentials:

URL:http://springfield.localorb.it (insert your Market’s URL)
Email: johndoe@thisgreatfarm.com (insert Seller’s email address)
Password: johndoe (insert password you created for Seller)

Please note that you will need to change your password as soon as you log in:

1. Click on the “Account” tab
2. Click on “Email & Password”
3. Click on the “Password Security” tab
4. Change your password
5. Click “Save”
